YOLO BOHO: ASSEMBLY NEW YORK AT MADE

Assembly New York designer Greg Armas makes clothes for men and women, and for when work meets play – or rather, for a generation for whom the boundaries between business and pleasure will be forever blurred. A 2012 top ten CFDA finalist, Armas’s aw13 presentation for MADE Fashion Week at The Standard hotel offered softly-tailored suiting (men’s tuxedos made from athletic, stretch twills) alongside casual tanks, sweaters, denim pieces and what he describes as "nearly comical eyewear and jewellery" – a constant reminder not to take ourselves to seriously.

Vintage-looking persian rugs from ABC Home provided a boho-looking backdrop for a louche coterie of models, who primped and posed for the assembled photographers while a video showing the remainder of the collection played on a loop in the background. On the stage, easy separates – a denim tunic dress, more unstructured suiting – came in an earthy palette of navy, black, grey and army green, aside from one black and white striped pant and pullover combo for her. On the screens meanwhile, the monochrome theme continued – pepped up by an occasional accent accessory in brilliant pillar box red.
